HELMETS

10.40.010 Required.
All drivers of motorcycles, motorscooters, all-terrain vehicles and snowmachines under the age of eighteen, and all passengers shall be required to wear DOT approved crash helmets when utilizing aforementioned vehicles within city limits. (Ord. O-98-10-1 (part), 1997)
10.40.020 Violation—Penalty.
Penalties for violations of this chapter are levied against the parent or legal guardian of the minor and are a fifty dollar fine for the first offense, a seventy-five dollar fine for the second offense and a one hundred fifty dollar fine for the third and subsequent offenses, plus any surcharge required to be imposed for each violation by AS 12.55.039.
