All officers elected or appointed under this code, before entering upon the duties of their office, shall take and file with the City Clerk an oath of office. (Ord. 94-8 § 2, 1994; Ord. 82-3 § 2-4, 1982)

2.04.020 Vacancies in office – Causes.

No member shall absent himself from any meeting of the Council except for good and sufficient reason. Council member absences must be announced to the Mayor, City Clerk, or City administration personnel by the Council member expecting to be absent as much in advance of the regular Council meeting as possible. The following will result in the vacancy of an office:

A.    When Council members, without prior notice and without personal, medical or professional extenuating circumstances, voluntarily miss three consecutive regularly scheduled City Council meetings or miss six regular Council meetings in a calendar year.

B.    Due to unforeseen medical or personal circumstances, be physically absent for more than ninety continuous days.

C.    When a Council member with prior notice misses six regular Council meetings in a calendar year.

D.    Notwithstanding subsections (A), (B) and (C) of this section, the Council may, upon request of a Council member, review absences of its membership and, by an affirmative vote, excuse member absences thereby retaining a member in office who may otherwise be compelled by this section to vacate the office.

E.    All occurrences as delineated by Section 2.10 of the City of North Pole Home Rule Charter.

F.    The requirement to be an elector of the City of North Pole is further defined as physically residing inside the City limits.
