FIRE DEPARTMENT

2.32.020    Responsibilities.

2.32.010 Established.

There is established a department of the city to be known as the fire department. The head of the department shall be the fire chief who shall be appointed by the city manager, and who shall be subject to the direction and supervision of the city manager. (Prior code § 10-24)

2.32.020 Responsibilities.

The fire department shall:

A.    Be responsible for the prevention of fires, the protection of life and property against fires, and the removal of fire hazards;

B.    Operate the city’s ambulance and emergency medical service;

C.    Enforce all provisions of the code relating to fires, fire prevention and safety of persons from hazards of fire;

D.    Provide for and conduct fire prevention programs;

E.    Notify the city assessor and the city building inspector of all property damaged by fire;

F.    In all respects perform all duties pertaining to the office of firemen;

G.    Provide other services and perform other duties as directed by the city manager. (Prior code § 10-25)
