DISPOSITION OF UNCLAIMED PROPERTY

3.20.010 Holding period.

All unclaimed property coming into the possession of the police department of the town shall be held by such department for a period of at least six months. (Ord. 158 § 1, 1948)

3.20.020 Sale at public auction.

All unclaimed property held by the police department of the town for a period of at least six months, may be thereafter sold at public auction to the highest bidder, under the rules pertaining to auction as provided for in the Civil Code of the state. (Ord. 158 § 2, 1948)

3.20.030 Notice of sale.

Notice of the sale shall be given by the chief of police of the town at least five days before the time fixed therefor by publication, once in a newspaper of general circulation in the town and published in the county. (Ord. 158 § 3, 1948)

3.20.040 Rules and regulations governing sale.

The chief of police of the town may establish such rules and regulations governing the auction sale as he may deem necessary, and which are not inconsistent with the provisions governing auctions as provided by the Civil Code of the state. (Ord. 158 § 4, 1948)

3.20.050 Destruction of unsold property.

All unclaimed property held by the police department for more than six months which is of no value or for which there are no bids at an auction sale as provided in this chapter, may be destroyed by the police department. (Ord. 158 § 5, 1948)
