15.44.010 Underground Connections.

All structures in commercial zones requiring new communication systems, telephone, alarm and signaling service shall have such service connections supplied from a service connection lateral of continuous underground conduit installed by the building owner or tenant to a location on the property line designated by the supplying utility company. The supplying utility company shall supply and install that portion of the conduits, conductors, boxes and associated equipment required to connect such underground service connection lateral on the property to its existing overhead or underground facilities, subject to the applicable rules, regulations and tariffs of the utility on file with the California Public Utilities Commission. This requirement shall be effective on all new buildings requiring such service connection. When an existing building is altered or rebuilt to the extent electric service connection undergrounding is required, then the utility facilities covered by this section shall also be installed underground at the same time.
