44.16.010 Establishment of self-inspection program.

For the purpose of providing and maintaining functions necessary for the prevention of fire and for the protection of life and property from fire and panic, the City Council does hereby establish a business fire safety self-inspection program assuring that certain B-2 and R-1 occupancies within the City are inspected on an annual basis for fire safety. 44.16.020 Definitions.

The terms “B-2” and “R-1” occupancies, as used in this chapter, shall mean those businesses as defined in Section 9.117 of the Uniform Fire Code. (Ord. 1946 § 2 Att. B, 2003)

44.16.030 Function of self-inspection program.

A. The Coronado Fire Department’s suppression/rescue personnel and Fire Prevention Bureau personnel may deliver by hand or by mail its “Self-Inspection Worksheet” and “Business and Emergency Record” forms to each B-2 and R-1 occupancy included in the business fire safety self-inspection program within the City on an annual basis.

B. The owner or manager of said occupancy or person in highest authority in said occupancy may within 30 days following receipt of the forms described in subsection A of this section inspect each occupancy, complete the aforementioned forms, correct all deficiencies, and return the same to the Coronado Fire Department. All deficiencies observed shall be reported on said forms and corrected prior to returning the forms to the Coronado Fire Department. (Ord. 1946 § 2 Att. B, 2003)

44.16.040 Penalties.

Any person who knowingly fails to comply with the requirements to inspect said premises, complete said forms, or correct all deficiencies noted within the aforementioned 30-day period, shall be guilty of an infraction. (Ord. 1946 § 2 Att. B, 2003)
