PERMIT STREAMLINING FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS

16.19.030 Duties of the Building Official.
16.19.010 Purpose.
The purpose of this chapter is to adopt an expedited, streamlined, electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) permitting process that complies with the provisions set forth in AB 1236 (2017) and AB 970 (2021). This chapter is designed to remove hurdles in the approval process of this vital infrastructure to support the State’s quickly growing number of electric vehicles. This chapter allows the City to achieve these goals while protecting the public health and safety. [Ord. 22-008 § 4.]
16.19.020 Applicability.
The provisions of AB 1236 and 970 ensure ministerial approval of all electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS); no design review requirements shall be imposed on any covered project. [Ord. 22-008 § 4.]
16.19.030 Duties of the Building Official.
The Building Official is tasked with ensuring the review and approval of all EVCS occurs in a timely fashion. [Ord. 22-008 § 4.]
