10.28.010 Coaster defined.

“Coaster” means a surface mounted on wheels or rollers designed or used to transport human beings which is intended to be propelled primarily by a skating motion of a human being, or by a pulling or pushing motion of a human being while simultaneously making contact with the surface mounted on wheels or rollers and the ground. The term “coaster” includes, but is not limited to, coasters, scooters, skateboards, and roller skates. (Ord. 281 § 1, 1988)

10.28.020 Riding of coasters – Prohibited acts.

No person upon a coaster or similar device shall:

A. Violate the right-of-way of a vehicle or a pedestrian;

B. Ride in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property. (Ord. 281 § 2, 1988)

10.28.030 Riding of coasters – Prohibited areas.

The riding or propelling of coasters is prohibited on all sidewalks and streets in the following designated areas:

A. The downtown business district on Main Street between Third Street and Viking Street;

B. Viking, First, Second, and Third Streets between Main Street and Coley Avenue;

C. In any public parking lot;

D. Privately owned off-street parking facility which is open to public use; provided, that signs referring to this chapter are posted prohibiting such acts;

E. Public school property when properly posted. (Ord. 437 § 1, 1998; Ord. 281 § 3, 1988)

10.28.040 Violation – Penalty.

It is unlawful and constitutes an infraction for any person to violate or fail to comply with any provision of this chapter. (Ord. 470, 2003; Ord. 281 § 4, 1988)
