2.40.010 Change of election date.

The date of the general municipal election is hereby changed from the second Tuesday in April of even-numbered years, to the same day as the statewide general election in even-numbered years. (Ord. 489 § 1, 1983)

2.40.020 Terms of office.

Pursuant to Government Code Section 36503.5, those elected city officers whose terms would have expired on the Tuesday succeeding the second Tuesday in April of an even-numbered year, shall instead, continue in their offices until no later than the fourth Tuesday after the day of the general municipal election and until their successors are elected and qualified. (Ord. 489 § 2, 1983)

2.40.030 Effective date.

The ordinance codified in this chapter shall take effect upon the approval of the board of supervisors in accordance with Government Code Section 36503.5. (Ord. 489 § 3, 1983)

2.40.040 Notice.

Within 30 days after the ordinance codified herein is approved of the board of supervisors, the city clerk shall cause a notice to be mailed to all registered voters informing the voters of the change in the election date. The notice shall also inform the voters that as a result of the change in the election date elected city office-holders’ term in office will be extended and that no terms shall be decreased. 2.40.050 Filing fee for nomination papers.

The sum of $25 is set as the filing fee for nomination papers for elective offices of the city, which shall be paid at the time of the filing of nomination papers. The fee shall not be refunded in the event the candidate fails to qualify. (Ord. 573 § 2, 1986)
