13.44.010 General provisions.

A. With the exception of cul-de-sacs for existing dead-end alleys, no new alleys shall be established within the city.

B. The alignments for street and alley rights-of-way shall be determined by the city engineer and may not necessarily be symmetrical about the surveyed centerline.

C. The minimum rights-of-way for streets and alleys shall be as set forth in this section. (Prior code § 7-2.01(a))

13.44.020 Arterial streets.

The following arterial streets shall have minimum rights-of-way of one hundred feet in width, unless otherwise noted:

El Segundo Boulevard from the westerly city limits to the easterly city limits;

Rosecrans Avenue from the westerly city limits to the easterly city limits;

Redondo Beach Boulevard from the westerly city limits to the easterly city limits;

Artesia Boulevard (State Highway 91) from the westerly city limits to the easterly city limits, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be one hundred ten feet in width exclusive of slope easements and planned freeway rights-of-way;

Crenshaw Boulevard from the northerly city limits to the southerly city limits;

Western Avenue from the northerly city limits to the southerly city limits;

Vermont Avenue westerly section (southbound roadway) from the northerly city limits to 164th Street, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be sixty feet in width exclusive of previous or existing railroad rights-of-way (median area);

Vermont Avenue from 164th Street to the southerly city limits;

Normandie Avenue from the northerly city limits to the southerly city limits, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be eighty feet in width. (Prior code § 7-2.01(b))

13.44.030 Major collector streets.

The following major collector streets shall have minimum rights-of-way of eighty feet in width, unless otherwise noted:

135th Street from the westerly city limits to the easterly city limits;

Compton Boulevard from the westerly city limits to Western Avenue;

Manhattan Beach Boulevard from the western city limits to Van Ness Avenue;

182nd Street from the westerly city limits to the easterly city limits;

Van Ness Avenue from the northerly city limits to Manhattan Beach Boulevard;

Van Ness Avenue from Manhattan Beach Boulevard to Redondo Beach Boulevard,

except that the minimum right-of-way shall be ninety feet in width. (Prior code § 7-2.01(c))

13.44.040 Minor collector streets.

The following minor collector streets shall have minimum rights-of-way of sixty feet in width, unless otherwise noted:

132nd Street from Ardath Avenue to Cimarron Avenue;

132nd Street from Wilton Place to Budlong Avenue;

139th Street from Ardath Avenue to Budlong Avenue;

147th Street from Crenshaw Boulevard to Van Ness Avenue;

Compton Boulevard from Western Avenue to Normandie Avenue, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be seventy feet in width;

Compton Boulevard from Normandie Avenue to Budlong Avenue, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be forty-five feet in width;

Compton Boulevard from Budlong Avenue to Vermont Avenue, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be fifty-three feet in width;

155th Street from Normandie Avenue to Vermont Avenue;

156th Street from Van Ness Avenue to Gramercy Place, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be fifty-four feet in width;

Magnolia Street from Normandie Avenue to Vermont Avenue;

158th Street from Western Avenue to Normandie Avenue;

161st Street from Normandie Avenue to Vermont Avenue;

162nd Street from the westerly city limits to Normandie Avenue, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be eighty feet in width;

164th Street from Normandie Avenue to Vermont Avenue;

Gardena Boulevard from the westerly city limits to Normandie Avenue;

Gardena Boulevard from Normandie Avenue to Berendo Avenue, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be seventy-two feet in width;

Gardena Boulevard from Berendo Avenue to Vermont Avenue, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be eighty feet in width;

166th Street from the westerly city limits to Normandie Avenue;

170th Street from Normandie Avenue to Vermont Avenue;

178th Street from Western Avenue to Normandie Avenue, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be fifty-four feet in width;

Gramercy Place from Rosecrans Avenue to 92.11 feet north of the centerline of 157th Street;

Gramercy Place from 92.11 feet north of the centerline of 157th Street to Redondo Beach Boulevard, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be fifty-four feet in width;

Gramercy Place from 166th Street to Artesia Boulevard;

Denker Avenue from Rosecrans Avenue to Compton Boulevard, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be fifty feet in width;

Denker Avenue from Compton Boulevard to Redondo Beach Boulevard;

Denker Avenue from 158th Street to Artesia Boulevard;

Normandie Way from Redondo Beach Boulevard to 155th Street, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be eighty feet in width;

Budlong Avenue from El Segundo Boulevard to 155th Street;

Budlong Avenue from Magnolia Street to Gardena Boulevard;

Van Buren Avenue from 155th Street to Magnolia Street, except that the minimum right-of-way shall be fifty-four feet in width. (Prior code § 7-2.01(d))

13.44.050 Residential collector streets.

The following residential collector streets shall have minimum rights-of-way of sixty feet in width:

141st Street from Budlong Avenue to Vermont Avenue;

141st Place from Normandie Avenue to Budlong Avenue;

144th Street from Western Avenue to Denker Avenue;

144th Street from Raymond Avenue to Budlong Avenue;

145th Street from Gramercy Place to Normandie Avenue;

146th Street from Gramercy Place to Normandie Avenue;

147th Street from Western Avenue to Halldale Avenue;

149th Street from Western Avenue to Harvard Boulevard;

150th Street from Western Avenue to Harvard Boulevard;

157th Street from Van Ness Avenue to Gramercy Place;

165th Place from Western Avenue to Harvard Boulevard;

168th Street from Normandie Avenue to Vermont Avenue;

Wadkins Avenue from 147th Street to Compton Boulevard;

St. Andrews Place from immediately south of 144th Street to 147th Street;

Harvard Boulevard from 147th Street to Compton Boulevard;

La Salle Avenue from 147th Street to 149th Street;

La Salle Avenue from Redondo Beach Boulevard to 158th Street;

Halldale Avenue from Rosecrans Avenue to Compton Boulevard;

Mariposa Avenue from 135th Street to 137th Street;

Raymond Avenue from 135th Street to 137th Street;

Berendo Avenue from 163rd Street to 170th Street;

Berendo Avenue from 170th Street to end of street;

New Hampshire Avenue from 168th Street to 170th Street;

New Hampshire Avenue from 170th Street to end of street. (Prior code § 7-2.01(d-1))

13.44.060 Local streets.

All streets which are not arterial streets, major collector streets, or minor collector streets are local streets and shall have minimum right-of-way widths of fifty feet, except as follows:

166th Street from Normandie Avenue to Berendo Avenue shall have a minimum right-of-way of fifty-four feet in width measured twenty-seven feet each side of the existing railroad right-of-way (median).

Manhattan Place from 154th Place to Redondo Beach Boulevard shall have a minimum right-of-way of sixty feet in width.

Nuanu Drive from Redondo Beach Boulevard to its southerly terminus shall have a minimum right-of-way of forty feet in width.

Halldale Avenue from 139th Street to Rosecrans Avenue shall have a minimum right-of-way of fifty-four feet in width.

Mariposa Avenue from 168th Street to 170th Street shall have a minimum right-of-way of fifty-four feet in width.

Raymond Avenue from 145th Place to Compton Boulevard shall have a minimum right-of-way of sixty feet in width. (Prior code § 7-2.01(e))

13.44.070 Alleys.

Alleys shall have minimum rights-of-way of twenty feet in width. With the exception of cul-de-sacs for existing dead-end alleys, no new alleys shall be established within the city. (Prior code § 7-2.01(f))

13.44.080 Cul-de-sacs and knuckles.

Street cul-de-sacs and knuckles shall have minimum right-of-way radii of forty feet. Alley cul-de-sacs shall have rights-of-way conforming to the hammerhead design with fifty feet across the top, twenty feet across the ends, and two fifteen foot radius corner cut-offs. (Prior code § 7-2.01(g))

13.44.090 Corner cut-offs.

Street intersections with other streets shall have minimum right-of-way corner cut-offs with radii of fifteen feet. Alley intersections with streets shall have minimum diagonal right-of-way corner cut-offs measuring ten feet on a side. Alley intersections with other alleys shall have minimum right-of-way corner cut-offs with radii of fifteen feet. (Prior code § 7-2.01(h))

13.44.100 Parkways.

Parkways, which are that portion of a street right-of-way between the established curb line and the right-of-way line, shall have a minimum width of five feet. The required street right-of-way width shall be increased as necessary to provide for the minimum parkway width. (Prior code § 7-2.01(i))

13.44.110 Future streets.

The following are designated as future streets and shall be opened or extended as set forth:

A. 137th Street westerly of Western Avenue, a cul-de-sac street with a minimum planned right-of-way width of fifty feet, being a portion of Lots 7 and 26 of Blocks D and E of the Strawberry Park Tract within the city as per map recorded in Book 8, page 138 of Maps, in the office of the county recorder, and further described as follows:

Beginning at the southeasterly corner of said Lot 7; thence northerly along the easterly line of said Lot 7 to the beginning of a circular curve having a radius of forty feet, said curve being concave to the northeast and tangent to a line parallel with, and distant northerly twenty-five feet from, the centerline of 137th Street, said centerline being parallel with and midway between the southerly line of Lot 15 and the northerly line of Lot 17 of Tract No. 5853 as per map recorded in Book 61, page 66 of Maps, in the office of the county recorder; thence westerly and northerly 35.83 feet along said curve through a central angle of 51°19’04” to a reverse circular curve having a radius of forty feet, said reverse curve being concave to the southeast; thence northerly, westerly, southerly and easterly 161.49 feet along said reverse curve through a central angle of 231°19’04” to a point of tangency with a line parallel with, and distant southerly twenty-five feet from, said centerline of 137th Street; thence easterly along last said parallel line to the easterly line of Lot 26 of Strawberry Park Tract; thence northerly along said easterly line of Lot 26 to the point of beginning;

B. 140th Street westerly of Raymond Avenue, a cul-de-sac street with a minimum planned right-of-way width of fifty-four feet, being a portion of the Chrisman Tract, as per map recorded in Book 10, page 66 of Maps, records of the county of Los Angeles, California, and further described as follows:

Beginning at a point in the easterly line of Lot 7 of said Chrisman Tract two feet northerly from the southeasterly corner thereof; thence northwesterly in a direct line to a point in the westerly line of said Lot 7, distant northerly thereon twenty-seven feet from the southwesterly corner thereof; thence westerly and parallel with the southerly lines of Lots 6 through 3, both inclusive, 103.16 feet to the beginning of a tangent circular curve, concave to the northeast, having a radius of forty-two feet; thence northwesterly along said curve 24.49 feet through a central angle of 34°46’19” to a point of tangency with a circular curve, concave to the southwest, having a radius of forty-two feet; thence westerly, southerly, and easterly along said last mentioned curve 224.93 feet through a central angle of 249°32’38” to a point of tangency with a circular curve, concave to the southeast, having a radius of forty-two feet; thence northeasterly along said last mentioned curve 25.49 feet through a central angle of 34°46’19” to a point of tangency with a line parallel with, distant southerly twenty-seven feet from, and measured at right angles to the southerly lines of said Lots 6 through 3, both inclusive; thence easterly along said parallel line 93.14 feet to a point thereon, said point lying 10.02 feet westerly from its intersection with the easterly line of Lot 13 of said Chrisman Tract; thence southeasterly in a direct line seventy feet to a point in a line parallel with, distant southerly fifty-two feet from, and measured at right angles to the southerly lines of said Lots 6 through 3; thence easterly along said last mentioned parallel line 10.02 feet to the easterly line of Lot 14 of said Chrisman Tract; thence northerly along the easterly lines of said Lots 14 and 7 to the point of beginning;

C. 140th Street easterly of Raymond Avenue, a cul-de-sac street with a minimum planned right-of-way width of fifty-four feet, being a portion of the Resubdivision of Lots 35 and a portion of Lot 34 of Block A, Strawberry Park Tract, as per map recorded in Book 9, page 17 of Maps, records of the county of Los Angeles, California, and further described as follows:

Beginning at the southwest corner of Lot 9 of Tract No. 18522, as per map recorded in Book 637, page 66 of Maps, records of said county; thence easterly along the easterly prolongation of the southerly line of said Lot 9 28.15 feet to the beginning of a tangent circular curve, concave to the northwest, having a radius of forty-two feet; thence northeasterly along said curve 25.49 feet through a central angle of 34°46’19” to a point of tangency with a circular curve, concave to the southeast, having a radius of forty-two feet; thence easterly, southerly, and westerly along said last mentioned curve 224.93 feet through a central angle of 249°32’38” to a point of tangency with a circular curve, concave to the southwest, having a radius of forty-two feet; thence northwesterly along said last mentioned curve 25.49 feet through a central angle of 34°46’19” to a point of tangency with a line parallel with, distant southerly twenty-seven feet from, and measured at right angles to the said easterly prolongation; thence westerly along said parallel line 28.15 feet to the easterly line of said Tract No. 18522; thence northerly along said easterly line to the point of beginning; and
