14.16.010 Adopted by reference – Purpose.

The city council, for the purpose of prescribing regulations governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or explosions, incorporates by reference and adopts the Uniform Fire Code, 1985 Edition, as adopted by the International Conference of Building Officials. This section may be amended or revised by an authorized resolution of the city council. (Ord. 386 § 3, 1986; Ord. 331 § 1, 1973).

14.16.020 Enforcement.

The fire prevention code shall be enforced by the chief of the fire department of the city. The chief of the fire department may detail such members of the fire department as inspectors as shall from time to time be necessary. (Ord. 331 § 2, 1973).

14.16.030 Establishment of limits or zones.

Whenever said code refers to limits or areas in which certain activities may or may not be conducted, it shall be considered as referring to the official zoning map, as adopted in HMC 17.08.020. (Ord. 331 § 3, 1973).

14.16.040 Burning of rubbish and trash.

It is unlawful for any person to burn or incinerate rubbish, papers or trash within the city limits. (Ord. 331 § 4, 1973).

14.16.050 Open fires.

It is unlawful for any person to kindle or maintain any open bonfire or rubbish fire on or in any public street, alley, road or other public grounds, or upon any private property. (Ord. 331 § 5, 1973).

14.16.060 Offensive odors.

It is unlawful to burn any garbage, rubber or other material producing harmful or offensive odors within the limits of the city. (Ord. 331 § 6, 1973).

14.16.130 Violation – Penalties.

Any violation of this chapter shall be punished as provided by HMC 1.12.010. (Ord. 331 § 12, 1972).
