10.56.010 Scope.

The provision of this chapter shall apply to all wheeled objects not classified as motor vehicles, motorized bicycles or bicycles in this title or in the Vehicle Code, including, but not limited to, skateboards, roller skates, coasters, scooters and toy vehicles. [Ord. 808 § 1, 1987].

10.56.020 Operation in a business district prohibited.

No person shall ride upon, propel or otherwise operate a skateboard or roller skates upon a sidewalk or parking area in a business district. [Ord. 808 § 1, 1987].

10.56.030 Reckless operation.

No person shall ride upon, propel or otherwise operate a skateboard or roller skates in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property. [Ord. 808 § 1, 1987].

10.56.040 Right-of-way.

The rider or operator of a skateboard or roller skates upon any sidewalk or roadway shall yield the right-of-way to all pedestrians, animals, wheelchairs and motor vehicles. [Ord. 808 § 1, 1987].

10.56.050 Operation after dark.

No person shall ride upon, propel or otherwise operate a skateboard or roller skates upon any roadway during the period between sunset and sunrise. [Ord. 808 § 1, 1987].

10.56.060 Incline device.

No person shall construct, place or maintain or use a ramp or other incline device to be used for skateboarding or roller-skating, upon any public sidewalk or roadway. [Ord. 808 § 1, 1987].

10.56.070 Safety equipment.

Persons participating in recreational activities at the McVicker Canyon Skate Park or other areas designated by the City Council for activities which include the use of skateboards, in-line skates or roller skates shall wear the following safety equipment:

A. Helmet.

B. Kneepads.

C. Elbow pads. [Ord. 1079 § 1, 2002].
