SEWER LATERAL MAINTENANCE

14-15.1 Definition:

a.    Subject to the foregoing provision, the following word shall mean:

Sewer lateral means a building sewer as defined in the latest edition of the California Plumbing Code. It is the wastewater connection between the building’s wastewater facilities and a public sewer system. Sewer laterals between the buildings and the connection to the public sewer are owned and maintained by the property owner served by the lateral. (Ord. #1673, §1)

14-15.3 Responsibility For Sewer Laterals:

14-15.4 City Cleaning Services Of Sewer Laterals:

The city council by resolution shall adopt a written policy offering property owners city services to clean sewer laterals, defining property owners eligible for the cleaning, describing the type or manner of cleaning offered by the city, assignment of responsibility to property owners for damages or breaks occurring from the cleaning and/or other items council may want to include in the cleaning program. The city council may discontinue, modify or expand the city cleaning services of sewer laterals by resolution at any time. (Ord. #1673, §1)
