2.12.010 Appointment.

There may be appointed by the council a city attorney, who shall hold office during the pleasure of the council. (Prior code § 2.15).

2.12.020 Preparation of ordinances and contracts.

It shall be the duty of the city attorney to prepare and supervise, upon the request of the council or any committee thereof, the final draft of all ordinances of which a rough draft or data thereof in writing shall be furnished to him by the council or any committee thereof. He shall also, upon the request of the mayor, prepare one draft or copy of any contract to which the city is a party, and of which the execution is controlled directly by the council without the agency of any executive board, department of officer. (Prior code § 2.16).

2.12.030 Advisor.

It shall be the duty of the city attorney to give advice and counsel to all city officers, and to committees of the council, when required by them or either of them relative to matters connected with their duties. (Prior code § 2.17).
