13.38.010 Adoption by reference.

The city hereby adopts, by reference, the Uniform Property Maintenance Code, 2006 Edition ("Uniform Property Maintenance Code"), as published by the International Code Council, subject to the revisions and additions set forth in this chapter. The provisions of this code shall apply to all existing residential and nonresidential structures and all existing premises, structures, equipment, and facilities for light, ventilation, space heating, sanitation, protection from the elements, life safety, safety from fire and other hazards, and for safe and sanitary maintenance; the responsibility of owners, operators, and occupants; the occupancy of existing structures and premises, and for administration, enforcement and penalties. Existing structures and premises that do not comply with these provisions shall be altered or repaired to provide a minimum level of health and safety as required herein. Nothing in this code shall be construed to cancel, modify or set aside any provision of any code adopted by the city council.

One copy of said Uniform Property Maintenance Code is on file in the office of the building official for public use and examination and, from the date on which the ordinance codified in this section takes effect, the provisions of such code, subject to any amendments adopted by the city, shall be controlling in the maintenance of all structures and other subjects therein contained within the corporate limits of the city.
