17.04.010 Generally.

For the purposes of this title the following words and phrases have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this chapter. (Prior code § 23.2 (part)).

17.04.020 City engineer.

"City engineer" means the city engineer or any other person so designated by the council. (Prior code § 23.2 (part)).

17.04.030 Cross slope.

"Cross slope" means the percentage of grade across the land measured from the highest point to the lowest point of all of the land within the subdivision. (Prior code § 23.2 (part)).

17.04.040 Cul-de-sac.

"Cul-de-sac" means a minor street terminating in a turn around. (Prior code § 23.2 (part)).

17.04.050 Loop street.

"Loop street" means a minor street which forms a loop and returns to the same street from which it originated. A street forming a connection between two other streets is not considered a loop street. (Prior code § 23.2 (part)).

17.04.060 Major streets (arterial).

"Major street (arterial)" means a street carrying inter-city through traffic or relating several sections or neighborhoods within the city. (Prior code § 23.2 (part)).

17.04.070 Map act.

"Map Act" means the Subdivision Map Act of the state. (Prior code § 23.2 (part)).

17.04.080 Minor streets.

"Minor street" means a street which serves only the abutting property. (Prior code § 23.2 (part)).

17.04.090 Owner.

"Owner" is the individual, firm, association, syndicate, copartnership, or corporation having sufficient proprietary interest in the land sought to be subdivided to commence and maintain proceedings to subdivide the same under this title, and while used here in the masculine gender and singular number it means and includes the feminine or neuter gender and the plural number whenever required. 17.04.100 Secondary streets (collector).

"Secondary streets (collector)" means streets which collect and carry traffic from minor streets to arterials and also carry traffic within a particular area of the city. (Prior code § 23.2 (part)).

17.04.110 Street generally.

"Street" means an improved public or private right-of-way providing the primary access to abutting property. (Prior code § 23.2 (part)).

17.04.120 Subdivider.

"Subdivider" means any individual firm, association, syndicate, copartnership, corporation, trust or any other legal entity commencing proceedings under this title, to effect a subdivision of land hereunder for himself or for another and while used here in the masculine gender and singular number means and includes the feminine or neuter gender and the plural number whenever required. 17.04.130 Subdivision.

"Subdivision" means any land or portion thereof shown on the last preceding tax roll as a unit or as contiguous units which is divided into two or more lots or parcels, any one of which contains less than five acres, for the purpose of sale, including sales contracts or long term land leases, whether immediate or future, by any subdivider.
