8.36.010 Distributing on streets and automobiles.

Except as provided hereafter, no person shall, upon any public street, parking plaza, sidewalk or park, deposit or place on vehicles any handbill or any other type of printed or written advertisement. This section shall not prohibit the distribution of written or printed matter devoted to the expression of views, opinions, beliefs or contentions relating to religious or political subjects, or to public or civic affairs, or which treats of any social or economic order, or which is aimed at the redress of any grievance, or which otherwise is not distributed for the purpose of soliciting business or trade. 8.36.020 Distributing on private premises.

Any person who distributes, deposits, passes out, gives away, circulates or delivers any commercial or business handbill, newspaper, circular or other printed material or sample merchandise to any residence or business, or leaves the same upon any yard, porch, doorstep or vestibule thereof, or in any public hallway thereof, or upon any vacant lot or other private property in the city without first having obtained the express consent or upon the express request of an adult resident or occupant thereof shall, prior to distribution thereof, print in a conspicuous place in such printed material or sample the name, address and telephone number of the publisher or distributor thereof. Thereafter, and upon the written request of any resident or occupant to discontinue the delivery of such material addressed to the distributor or publisher of such material, future distribution of such material to said resident or occupant is prohibited and shall be illegal.
