1.15.010 Meaning of words.

The following words and phrases, when used in this code, shall have the signification set forth in this chapter, unless it is otherwise apparent from their use in context.

A.    “City” means the city of Millbrae.

B.    “City council” means the city council of the city of Millbrae.

C.    “Code” means the Millbrae Municipal Code, as enacted herein, and any and all amendments and supplements thereto and modification thereof, unless some other code is indicated.

D.    “Deputy,” when used alone, means any person in the city service who acts for the department head under the direction of and subordinate to the department head or his assistant, when appointed pursuant to law.

E.    “Person” includes any person, firm, association, organization, partnership, business trust, company, corporation, public agency, school district, the state of California, its political subdivisions and/or instrumentalities thereof.

F.    “Planning commission” means the planning commission of the city of Millbrae.

G.    “State” means the state of California.

H.    “Building code” shall mean the currently adopted California Building Standards Codes, as amended by the city of Millbrae in MMC Title 9, and shall include all terms found within the Millbrae Municipal Code referring to standardized codes, such as National Codes, Uniform Codes, Construction Codes, etc. (Ord. 232, § 2; Ord. 774, § 1; 1976 Code § 1-3.01; 1966 Code §§ 1100 – 1107).

1.15.020 Titles of officers.

Whenever titles of officers are used in this code, such titles are applicable to officers of the city unless otherwise indicated. (Ord. 232, § 2; 1976 Code § 1-3.02; 1966 Code § 1108).

1.15.030 Titles of departments, commissions, boards and agencies.

Whenever titles of departments, commissions, boards and agencies are used in this code, such titles are applicable to the departments, commissions, boards, and agencies of the city, unless otherwise indicated. (Ord. 232, § 2; 1976 Code § 1-3.03; 1966 Code § 1109).
