1.12.010 Proclamation.

The mayor of the city, or in the event of his or her absence, the mayor pro tern, may from time to time declare and proclaim days as public fasts, thanksgiving or holidays in addition to those enumerated by the provisions of Section 6700 of the Government Code of the state, and directing the public offices of this city to be closed for the transacting of business on any of such days or portions of such days. Such proclamation shall provide for the continuance of essential public services such as police and fire protection. (Prior code § 2.72.010)

1.12.020 Saturdays to be holidays.

Pursuant to the authority of Section 6704 of the Government Code, every Saturday is declared to be a holiday as respects the transaction of business in the public offices of the city. All such offices shall be closed for the transaction of business on Saturdays, except that the police, fire, public works department and such other officers deemed by the city manager to be involved in essential public services shall remain open on such days.
