12.04.010 Title.

The ordinance codified in this Title shall be known as, and may be cited as, “the traffic ordinance.” (Ord. 89-12, 6/27/89)

12.04.020 Continuation of Provisions.

The provisions of the ordinance codified in this Title, insofar as they are substantially the same as ordinance provisions existing prior to the effective date of this ordinance and relating to the same subject matter, shall be construed as restatements and continuations of the law, and not as new enactments. (Ord. 89-12, 6/27/89)

12.04.030 Scope—Exceptions to Applicability.

Except as explicitly otherwise stated, this Title does not apply to traffic or to vehicles on either state highways or private streets. (Ord. 89-12, 6/27/89)

12.04.040 Powers of Deputies.

Whenever, by the provisions of this Title, a power is granted to a police officer or a duty imposed upon such officer, the power may be exercised or duty performed by a deputy of the officer or by a person authorized pursuant to law by the officer, unless it is expressly otherwise provided. 12.04.050 Exemptions for Emergency and Other Vehicles.

The provisions of this Title regulating the moving, parking and standing of vehicles shall not apply to vehicles being used by the police department or any authorized fire department or the California Department of Transportation while the operator of any such vehicle is engaged in the necessary performance of public emergency duties.
