ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES – SANTA CRUZ POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS

10.50.010 OPERATION OF ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES ON CITY STREETS.

Pursuant to authority conferred by California Vehicle Code Section 38026 the city council hereby finds that the portions of those city streets identified in subsections (a) through (g) of this section are designed and constructed so as to safely permit the Santa Cruz police and fire departments to operate all terrain vehicles on those streets while those streets are also used by other motor vehicles intended for use upon city streets. The Santa Cruz police and fire departments are therefore authorized to operate all terrain vehicles on such city streets in order to facilitate all terrain vehicle patrols and emergency responses at the San Lorenzo River levee, at Main Beach and at Cowell Beach.

(a)    Center Street between Laurel Street and Pacific Avenue;

(b)    Pacific Avenue between Front Street and the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf;

(c)    Beach Street between the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf and Third Street;

(d)    Laurel Street Extension;

(e)    Front Street between Laurel Street and Pacific Avenue;

(f)    Broadway Bridge;

(g)    Municipal Wharf.
