VEHICLE LENGTH RESTRICTIONS

9.50.010 Trucks prohibited on specific County roads.

(A)    For purposes of this chapter, “trucks” are defined as tractor-trailer combinations longer than 45 feet.

(B)    In accordance with the provisions of California Vehicle Code Section 21101, subsection (c), trucks are prohibited on the following roads:

(1)    Alba Road, from State Highway 9 to Empire Grade;

(2)    Felton-Empire Road, from State Highway 9 to Empire Grade;

(3)    Jamison Creek Road, from State Highway 236 to Empire Grade;

(4)    Mt. Madonna Road, from Casserly Road to the County line;

(5)    State Highway 152, in the unincorporated area of Santa Cruz County between the Watsonville city limit and the Santa Clara County line. The designated alternative route for vehicles prohibited on State Highway 152 shall be State Highway 129;

(6)    Upper Zayante Road, from Eagle Tree Lane to Summit Road;

9.50.020 Exemptions.

An exemption to the aforementioned truck prohibition is granted to semitrailer trucks, including logging trucks, to enter the restricted area for the purpose of providing services, making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise or delivering construction materials to sites within the restricted highway segment that have no other means of access. 9.50.030 Penalty.

Pursuant to California Vehicle Code Section 21104, the penalty for violation of this section is $100.00. [Ord. 5324 § 19, 2020].
