2.52.010 Filing fee.

Pursuant to the provisions of Elections Code Section 22843, a fee of $25.00 is fixed for the filing of a candidate’s nomination papers for municipal elections held within the City. The City Council determines that such filing fee is proportionate to the cost of processing a candidate’s nomination papers in municipal elections. [Ord. 806 § 1, 1973.]

2.52.020 Date of general municipal elections.

A. All general municipal elections for the City of Sausalito shall be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each even-numbered year as specified in California Elections Code Section 1301.

B. City Council members whose terms would normally expire in March 2002, shall instead have their terms expire on the Tuesday following certification of the general municipal election of November 2000. City Council members whose terms would normally expire in March 2002, shall instead have their term expire on the Tuesday following certification of the general municipal election of November 2002.

C. If the City of Sausalito’s general municipal election is consolidated with school district and other elections, the consolidation shall be governed by Section 10402 of the California Elections Code. If the County Clerk is requested to conduct the general municipal election, Section 10002 of the California Elections Code shall be applicable.

D. Within 30 days after the ordinance codified in this section becomes operative, the City Clerk shall cause a notice to be mailed to all registered voters of the City informing the voters of the change in the election date. The notice shall also inform the voters that as a result of the change in the election date, Council members’ terms in office shall be increased. [Ord. 1142 § 1, 2000.]
