10.36.010 Decreasing speed limits in certain zones.
When it has been determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey that the speed permitted by state law outside of business and residence districts is greater than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist upon any street, the city council may by resolution declare that the prima facie speed limit is set at a lower limit, and such speed limit shall become effective when signs are erected giving notice thereof. Article III. Speed Limits Established
10.36.200 Playground zones.
Pursuant to Vehicle Code Section 22357.1 and upon a report submitted by the city engineer, the city council may, by resolution, designate any street or portion thereof within the city adjacent to any children’s playground in a public facility as a playground zone. It is declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be 25 miles per hour on those streets or portion of streets so designated as playground zones where signs are erected giving notice thereof.
