2.44.010  Composition.

The planning commission shall consist of seven members, six of whom shall be qualified electors of the city, and shall be appointed in accordance with SMC 2.40.100. No person shall be elected, appointed, reelected, or reappointed as chair or vice chair of the planning commission, unless such person is a qualified elector of the city. Any person so elected or appointed shall maintain city residence as a qualification for the office, and upon loss of such residence, shall vacate the office. (Ord. 2003-03 § 2, 2003; Ord. 84-8 § 3, 1984).

2.44.020  General plan.

The planning commission shall have such power as is described by state law, and it shall be the function and duty of the planning commission to prepare and adopt a comprehensive long-term master plan for the physical development of the city. Such plan shall be known as the general plan and shall be so prepared that all, or portions thereof, may be adopted by the city council in accordance with law. (Ord. 84-8 § 3, 1984).

2.44.030  Powers and duties.

The planning commission shall have such other authority and responsibilities as delegated by the city council and specified by various ordinances within this code and by state law. (Ord. 84-8 § 3, 1984).
