9.15.010 Adoption by reference of the Uniform Solar Energy Code.

Except as provided herein, the 2015 Edition of the Uniform Solar Energy Code, including any amendments and appendices thereof, as promulgated and published by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, is hereby adopted by reference as though fully set forth herein, and shall constitute and is hereby established as “the Solar Energy Code of the City of South Gate” (“solar energy code” herein). A copy of the 2015 Edition of the Uniform Solar Energy Code has been deposited in the office of the city clerk and shall at all times be maintained by the city clerk for use and examination by the public.

9.15.020 Violation and penalties.

Any person violating any of the provisions of the solar energy code shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and each such person shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day, or portion thereof, during which any violation of any provision of the solar energy code is committed, continued or permitted. Upon conviction, any such violation shall be punishable as provided for in Title 1 of this code.

9.15.030 Amendments to solar energy code.

Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 9.15.010, the solar energy code is hereby amended by:

A.    Amending Section 103.4.1 (Permit Fees) of Part I (Administration) in its entirety to read as follows:

103.4.1 Permit Fees.

Every applicant for a permit to do work regulated by this Code, shall state in writing on the application form provided for that purpose, the character of work proposed to be done and the amount and kind in connec-

tion therewith, together with such information pertinent thereto, as may be required.

Such applicant shall pay for each permit, at the time of issuance, a fee in accordance with the following schedule, and at the rate provided for each classification shown herein.

Any person who shall commence any work for which a permit is required by this Code without first having obtained a permit therefor shall, if subsequently permitted to obtain a permit, pay double the permit fee fixed by this section for such work; provided, however, that this provision shall not apply to emergency work when it shall be proved to the satisfaction of the Administrative Authority that such work was urgently necessary and that it was not practical to obtain a permit therefor before the commencement of the work. In all such cases, a permit must be obtained as soon as it is practical to do so, and if there be an unreasonable delay in obtaining such permit, a double fee as herein provided shall be charged.

More than 2,000 square feet (186m2)




Plus $6.00 per 1,000 square feet (93m2), or fraction thereof, over 2,000 square feet (186m2)




For Storage Tanks (including related piping and regulating devices)




Up to 750 gallons (3m3)




Between 751 gallons (3m3) and 2,000 gallons (8m3)




More than 2,000 gallons (8m3)




Plus $3.00 per 1,000 gallons (4m3), or fraction thereof, over 2,000 gallons (8m3)




For Rock Storage




Up to 1,500 cubic feet (42m3)




Between 1,501 (42.1m3) and 3,000 cubic feet (84m3)




More than 3,000 cubic feet (84m3)




Plus $3.00 per 1,000 cubic feet (28m3), or fraction thereof, over 3,000 cubic feet (85m3)




For each appliance or item of equipment regulated by this Code for which no fee is specified




NOTE: These fees do not include permit fees for any components of a solar energy system which may be subject to the requirements of other applicable codes.
