CHAPTER 5. TRAFFIC CONTROLS

ARTICLE 1. ONE WAY TRAFFIC

3-05-1000 TRAFFIC CONTROL ON MOUNTAIN DRIVE 375 (MINERAL KING ROAD):

Mountain Drive 375 (Mineral King Road) is defined as that certain public highway of the County which commences at State Highway No. 198 near the Northeast corner of Section 8, Township 17 South, Range 29 East, M.D.B.& M. and runs generally easterly to a mountain valley known as Mineral King in Section 15, Township 17 South, Range 31 East, M.D.B.& M. It shall be unlawful for any person to drive, propel or operate any motor vehicle having a gross weight of ten (10) tons or more, including the load if any, in a downgoing or westerly direction on said Mountain Drive 375 (Mineral King Road), or any part thereof, from the Cold Spring Entrance to Sequoia National Park to the intersection of said Mountain Drive 375 (Mineral King Road) with California State Highway No. 198, except during the hours from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. of each day; provided, however, that such a motor vehicle shall not be driven, propelled or operated on said Mountain Drive 375 at any hour of any Saturday, Sunday or holiday. This section shall be in effect only during the months of June, July, August and September of each year and shall not be in effect during the remaining months of each year. This section shall be in effect only when signs have been erected giving notice thereof.

3-05-1005 HILLCREST DRIVE:

When signs have been erected giving notice thereof, that portion of Hillcrest Drive (Drive 221A) which circles the crest of the hill, beginning at a point approximately 600 feet South of Fir Street (Avenue 238) and ending at the point of beginning, a distance of approximately 1650 feet, shall be restricted to one way vehicular traffic. It shall be unlawful for any person to drive, propel or operate a vehicle onto or along said portion of Hillcrest Drive other than to the right.

ARTICLE 3. VIOLATIONS

3-05-1055 VIOLATIONS:

Any person violating any of the provisions of this Chapter shall be guilty of a public offense and shall be punishable as provided in Divisions 17 (commencing with section 40000.1) and 18 (commencing with section 42000) of the Vehicle Code of the State of California.
