CHAPTER 33. FIRE HAZARD SEVERITY ZONES
7-33-1000 PURPOSE:
The purpose of this Chapter is to comply with Section 51179, subdivision (a) of the Government Code, which requires local agencies to designate, by ordinance, moderate, high, and very high fire hazard severity zones. This Chapter applies to all of the lands of the County of Tulare where the financial or regulatory responsibility of preventing and suppressing wildfires is that of the County of Tulare, including by agreement, and not that of a city, a Fire Protection District pursuant to Health and Safety Code (HSC) section 13800 et seq. (Fire Protection District Law of 1987) or other similar special district, or the state or federal government pursuant to Public Resources Code (PRC) section 4125.

7-33-1000 DESIGNATION OF FIRE HAZARD SEVERITY ZONES:
(a) The County of Tulare hereby designates the Moderate, High, and Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones in accordance with the map transmitted on March 10, 2025, by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection for the Tulare County unincorporated Local Responsibility Area pursuant to Section 51178 of the Government Code, including all amendments or revisions thereto.
(b) A map of the Fire Hazard Severity Zones established by this Section is hereby incorporated by reference and declared to be part of this chapter. This map shall be made available electronically on the County’s internet website, or another internet website maintained by the County.
