10.12.010 Superintendent to establish marked crosswalks.

A.    The superintendent of public works shall establish, designate and maintain crosswalks at intersections and other places by appropriate devices, marks or lines upon the surface of the roadway as follows:

Crosswalks shall be established and maintained at all intersections within the central traffic district and at such intersections outside such district, and at other places within or outside the district where the superintendent of public works determines that there is particular hazard to pedestrians crossing the roadway subject to the limitation contained in subsection (B) of this section.

B.    Other than crosswalks at intersections, no crosswalk shall be established in any block which is less than four hundred (400) feet in length and such crosswalk shall be located as nearly as practicable at mid-block. (Prior code § 4-1.901)

10.12.020 Standing or walking in roadways.

No person shall stand or walk in any roadway other than a safety zone, in a crosswalk, upon a sidewalk or walkway if such action interferes with the lawful movement of traffic. This section shall not apply to any public officer or employee of a public utility when necessarily upon a street in the line of duty. (Prior code § 4-1.903)
