12.16.010 Application of city ordinances to Mir Park.

A.    Pursuant to Section 31-25-216, C.R.S., all present and future ordinances of the city shall be applicable to the park owned by the city known as Mir Park, as more particularly described below, to that portion of East Center Avenue lying within Mir Park, and to those portions of Elm Street and East Center Avenue lying between Mir Park and the Glendale municipal boundaries. All violations of such ordinances occurring in such park and upon such portions of Elm Street and East Center Avenue may be prosecuted in the Glendale Municipal Court in the same manner as offenses committed within the territorial boundaries of the city. Such ordinances specifically include all those codified in the Glendale Municipal Code.

B.    Legal description of Mir Park:

Parcel “A”: Lots 3 and 4 and the south 137 feet of Lot 2, Jane K. Wheeler’s Subdivision of Block O, Jersey Subdivision, except the west 8 feet of said Lots 3 and 4, city and county of Denver, state of Colorado.

Parcel “B”: The west 8 feet of lot 4 and the west 8 feet of Lot 3, except the North 16 feet of the west 8 feet of Lot 3, Jane K. Wheeler’s Subdivision of Block O, Jersey Subdivision, city and county of Denver, state of Colorado.

Parcel “C”: The north 16 feet of the west 8 feet of Lot 3, Jane K. Wheeler’s Subdivision of Block O, Jersey Subdivision, city and county of Denver, State of Colorado. (Ord. 1996-11 § 1)

12.16.020 General purpose.

The general purpose of the ordinance codified in this chapter is to create exclusive and separate city facilities for tennis and pickleball, and to prohibit activities that damage said facilities. (Ord. 2023-5 § 1)

12.16.030 Designation of exclusive tennis and pickleball courts.

A.    The tennis court on the east side of Birch Street between East Kentucky Avenue and East Tennessee Avenue shall be called the “Glendale Tennis Court.”

B.    The four (4) pickleball courts located northeast of the intersection of East Center Avenue and South Elm Street in Glendale Park shall be called the “Glendale Pickleball Courts.” (Ord. 2023-5 § 1)

12.16.040 Prohibited activities on the Glendale Tennis Courts.

A.    It is unlawful to commit any of the following acts on the Glendale Tennis Courts:

1.    Enter the court area or court with a pickleball net or any other type of net similar to a pickleball net, or enter the court area or court to install or place on the court surface a pickleball net or any other type of net similar to a pickleball net.

2.    Enter the court area to install or place on the court surface any type of chair, stool, or seating.

3.    Enter the court area with, or touch the court surface with: a snow shovel, ice scraper, broom, or chemical snow melt.

4.    Mark the surface of the court with any type of temporary or permanent marks or lines. (Ord. 2023-5 § 1)

12.16.050 Prohibited activities on the Glendale Pickleball Courts.

A.    It is unlawful to commit any of the following acts on the Glendale Pickleball Courts:

1.    Enter the court area or court to install or place on the court surface any type of chair, stool, or seating.

2.    Enter the court area, or touch the court surface with: a snow shovel, ice scraper, broom, or chemical snow melt.

3.    Mark the surface of the court or court area with any type of temporary or permanent marks or lines. (Ord. 2023-5 § 1)

12.16.060 Penalty.

Violations of this chapter shall be punished as provided in Section 1.16.010. (Ord. 2023-5 § 1)
