15.05.010 Adoption of current code.

The following documents, which (one each) are on file in the office of the Black Hawk County Auditor, Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors, Black Hawk County Building Official and the Black Hawk County Maintenance Superintendent; being marked and designated as the 2009 International Building Code (IBC) and the 2009 International Residential Code (IRC) as they are adopted and amended by the City of Waterloo in Ordinance Nos. 4995, Plumbing Regulations, and 4996, Building Code, adopted on the twenty-first day of June 2010, and Ordinance No. 5096, Electrical Regulations, adopted on the twenty-seventh day of February 2012, as published by the International Code Council, be and the same are hereby adopted as the Uniform Building Code of Black Hawk County, state of Iowa, for regulating the erection, construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, moving, removal, demolition, conversion, occupancy, equipment, use, height, area and maintenance of all building and/or structures in Black Hawk County, Iowa, providing for issuance of permits and collections of fees therefor; and providing penalties for violation of such code.

Each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of such 2009 International Building Code (IBC) and the 2009 International Residential Code (IRC) as they are amended and adopted by the City of Waterloo in Ordinance Nos. 4995, Plumbing Regulations, and 4996, Building Code, adopted on the twenty-first day of June 2010, and Ordinance No. 5096, Electrical Regulations, adopted on the twenty-seventh day of February 2012, as published by the International Code Council, on file in the office of the Black Hawk County Auditor, Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors and Black Hawk County Building Official and Black Hawk County Maintenance Superintendent are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this chapter.

The adoption of the Waterloo ordinances shall be continuing, so that any adoption, amendment or change in the Waterloo ordinances shall constitute such a change in the Black Hawk County ordinance. [Amended during 2014 recodification; Ord. 117 § 1, 2013.]

15.05.020 Exceptions to current code.

Those portions of the 2009 International Building Code (IBC) and the 2009 International Residential Code (IRC) which apply to electrical, gas, mechanical and plumbing inspections are omitted from this chapter except as set out and covered by the City of Waterloo Ordinance Nos. 4995, Plumbing Regulations, and 4996, Building Code, adopted on the twenty-first day of June 2010, and Ordinance No. 5096, Electrical Regulations, adopted on the twenty-seventh day of February 2012, and will continue to be adopted if these ordinances are amended in the future.

The square footage threshold for “sprinkler requirement” shall be lowered to 9,000 square feet regardless of building use.

This chapter does not apply to any person who owns more than 35 acres of land designated for agricultural use. [Ord. 117 § 2, 2013.]

15.05.030 Building permit fees.

The building permit fees as adopted or amended by the City of Waterloo, Iowa, and on file with the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors are hereby incorporated by reference and the fee structure set out in the model ordinance is stricken, as it is not applicable to Black Hawk County.
