7-4-2:    Special Plumbing Code Requirements

7-4-1 IDAHO STATE PLUMBING CODE:

A.    Code Adopted: All rules, regulations and ordinances of a general and permanent character relating to and applying to the installation, construction, alteration or repair of plumbing and drainage systems, said rules, regulations and ordinances printed and contained in a book in code form designated and entitled the Idaho State Plumbing Code, as adopted by the state of Idaho, together with rules and regulations as adopted by the state of Idaho, be and the same hereby is ratified and adopted as the plumbing code for the city, except as said rules, regulations and ordinances are changed, altered and amended by this chapter.

B.    Code On File: A copy of the Idaho State Plumbing Code shall be retained by the city and shall be filed in the office of the city clerk in accordance with Idaho Code section 50-901 for use and examination by the public. (Ord. 973-14, 12-8-2014; Ord. 995-18, 2-26-2018)

7-4-2 SPECIAL PLUMBING CODE REQUIREMENTS:

A.    Any distribution piping installed within an exterior wall cavity that has unconditioned space on one (1) side, shall be installed within a five and one-half inch (5 1/2") wall cavity minimum. The distribution piping shall be installed as close to the conditioned side of the wall so as to provide a three and one-half inch (3 1/2") space between the piping and exterior wall side. The space between the piping and exterior wall side shall accommodate an R-13 insulation minimum, or the minimum requirement per the Res-check or Com-check specifications to protect the piping from freeze damage.

B.    Any pressure temperature relief discharge piping from a hot water heating appliance shall terminate in an approved location deemed adequate by the building official. No such discharge piping shall terminate within a building, except for garages; mechanical rooms in other than group R occupancies where floor drains are installed; basements where piping termination is limited to elevations higher than the appliance with the appliance located in its own room and a floor drain is installed.
