5-60-010 License required—Application.

It is unlawful to engage in the business of house moving, raising or shoring without first having secured a license therefor. Applications for such license shall be made in writing to the clerk. (Prior code § 5-28-1)

5-60-020 Fee.

The annual fee for a house movers license shall be five hundred dollars ($500.00). (Ord. 3316 § 2 (part), 2015: Ord. 3221 § 18, 2009; Ord. 1921 (part), 1972; prior code § 5-28-2)

5-60-030 Bond.

Every licensee under the provisions of this chapter shall file with the clerk a bond or liability insurance policy in the sum of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000.00) with sureties to be approved by the council, and shall further agree to such sums above and beyond this amount as necessary to indemnify the city or any private person for any loss, damage or expense occasioned by it; by any act or failure to act of the licensee, or by any failure of the licensee to comply with the provisions of this code relating to the business of house moving or moving houses. 5-60-040 Regulations.

Persons licensed under this chapter must comply with all code provisions relating to the work being done, and must pay the permit fee required for moving buildings, and must keep lights and warnings maintained as is required by the provisions of this code. (Prior code § 5-28-3)

5-60-050 Inspections.

It shall be the duty of the chief of police to make or cause to be made such inspections as may be necessary to insure compliance with the provisions of this chapter. (Prior code § 5-28-4)

5-60-060 Planking street.

The pavement of any street, alley or sidewalk on or along which any house is moved shall be protected by two-inch planks along the route. (Prior code § 5-28-6)

5-60-070 Penalty.

A.    For the first violation hereof, any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be fined no less than five hundred dollars ($500.00) and no more than two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00).

B.    For any second violation hereof within a twelve month period, the license hereunder shall be revoked. (Ord. 3316 § 2 (part), 2015; Ord. 2210 (part), 1980)
