REGULATION OF CONSUMER FIREWORKS

9.15.010 Definition – Consumer fireworks.

For the purposes of this chapter, “consumer fireworks” shall mean consumer fireworks as defined by IC 22-11-14-1. [Ord. 1641-2020 § 1.]

9.15.020 Days and hours of use.

Consumer fireworks may not be used, ignited or discharged within the corporate limits of the city except during the following times:

(A) Between 5:00 p.m. and two hours after sunset on June 29th, June 30th, July 1st, July 2nd, July 3rd, July 5th, July 6th, July 7th, July 8th, and July 9th;

(B) Between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 midnight on July 4th; and

(C) Between the hours of 10:00 a.m. on December 31st and 1:00 a.m. on January 1st. [Ord. 1641-2020 § 2.]

9.15.030 Exemptions.

This chapter shall not be construed to prohibit the use of fireworks for ceremonial purposes in athletics or sports, use by military organizations, or use of indoor pyrotechnics special effects material. [Ord. 1641-2020 § 3.]

9.15.040 Violations.

Any person, firm or corporation violating the terms of this chapter shall be fined as provided in Chapter 1.15 AMC. [Ord. 1641-2020 § 4.]
