POLLING PLACE ADVISORY COUNCIL

2.62.010 Polling Place Advisory Council Established.

A.    There is hereby established a seven (7) member Polling Place Advisory Council.

B.    The purpose of the Polling Place Advisory Council is to advise the Board of Commissioners of Vanderburgh County in the board’s selection of polling places for elections with special needs of the disabled or elderly voter in mind.

C.    The Polling Place Advisory Council shall present its recommendations to the Board of Commissioners at least thirty days prior to the date the Board of Commissioners establish the polling places for the next election.

2.62.020 Membership

A.    At least two (2) of the members shall be representatives of the disabilities communities or elderly voters (ie: voters 65 years of age or older).

B.    There shall be at least one representative from each of the parties receiving the two highest number of votes statewide in the last Secretary of State election.

C.    The members shall be appointed by the Board of Commissioners and shall serve at the pleasure of the Board of Commissioners. Terms of the members expire December 31 of each year, unless sooner terminated by the Board of Commissioners, or unless the member is reappointed.

D.    Members must be residents of Vanderburgh County who are concerned about the needs of disabled or elderly voters. Members shall serve without compensation.

2.62.030 Meetings

Meetings of the Polling Place Advisory Council shall be held in compliance with the Indiana Open Door Law.

2.62.040 Officers

At the first meeting of each year, the members shall elect a President, Vice-President and Secretary.
