SPEED LIMITS

10.16.010 Speed limits.
A. It shall be unlawful to operate a motor vehicle in excess of 45 miles per hour upon and along any county road or highway within the jurisdiction and control of the Board of Commissioners of Vanderburgh County.
B. It shall be unlawful to operate a motor vehicle in excess of 30 miles per hour on and along any county road within an approved subdivision within the jurisdiction and control of the Board of Commissioners of Vanderburgh County.
C. The speed limits for the County roads and highways listed below shall apply and supersede the provisions of Paragraphs [A] and [B], above:

D. All necessary signs giving notice of the foregoing speed regulations shall be posted on or at the entrances to the highway or highways or part or parts thereof affected, in a position most appropriate and in accordance with IC 9-21-4-1 et seq.
E. Any person violating this traffic schedule shall be punishable pursuant to I.C. 9-21-5-13.
F. The County Engineer is hereby authorized to temporarily lower the speed limit established under this section upon any county road due to hazardous conditions, construction or repair on or near said county road. Said temporary speed limit shall be in effect for thirty days and may be continued for additional thirty-day periods of time. The speed limit and duration of the speed limit shall be ratified by a vote of the Board of Commissioners at a subsequent meeting. The speed limit shall be effective upon posting of the speed limit.
