ARTICLE 1. CITY ELECTIONS

6-101. CONDUCT OF ELECTION.

The election of city officials shall be conducted in all respects as provided by the laws of Kansas governing the holding of city elections. (K.S.A. 25-2101 et seq.; Code 2008)

6-102. HOURS OF VOTING.

At all city elections the polls shall be open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m., unless different hours are set and publicly announced by the county election officer.

6-103. COMMENCEMENT OF TERMS OF OFFICE; OATH OF OFFICE.

(a)    The term of office for newly elected city officials shall commence on the second Monday in January following certification of the election by the county election officer in compliance with K.S.A 25-2120.

(b)    Every person elected or appointed to city office, before entering upon the duties of such office, shall take and subscribe an oath or affirmation as specified in K.S.A. 54-106, and amendments thereto, and every such oath or affirmation shall be filed with the city clerk.

6-104. NONPARTISAN ELECTIONS.

All elections for the city of Nickerson, Kansas, shall be nonpartisan.
