Section 1201.1 of the International Plumbing Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

1202.1 Nonflammable Medical Gases.

No person shall install, improve, repair, maintain or inspect a medical gas piping system unless such person is: (a) Licensed under the provisions of K.S.A. 12-1508 et seq., and amendments thereto; and (b) Certified under the appropriate professional qualifications standards. All installers shall obtain a proper permit for installation or modification of medicial gas systems. All inspections shall be performed by a third-party agency certified under the appropriate professional qualifications standards for medical gas systems inspectors. All documentation of the inspections and certifications of installers and inspectors shall be provided to the Building Official prior to any occupancy of the building or portion of the building in which the medical gas piping has been installed.

As used in this section, “medical gas piping” means the piping used solely to transport gases used for medical purposes at a health care facility.
