A public offense is an act or omission defined by law and for which, upon conviction, a sentence of imprisonment or fine, or both imprisonment and fine, is authorized.

Offenses are classified as Class A, B, C and unclassified public offenses. (Ord. 83-75 § 2, 1983.)
