2.30.010 Established.

From and after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter, the chief of police for the city of Hubbard is hereby empowered and authorized to establish, organize and maintain a volunteer police reserve, which shall operate under the direction of the chief of police. (Ord. 165-92 § 2, 1992)

2.30.020 Membership.

Members of the police reserve shall be commissioned police officers of the city of Hubbard and, to the extent authorized by the chief of police, shall have full police authority when performing the duties of a police officer. The chief of police shall issue commission cards to the reserve members. The city administrator or designee shall administer the oath of office. (Ord. 165-92 § 3, 1992)

2.30.030 Volunteers – Compensation.

Members of the police reserve shall be volunteers. Compensation for work performed shall be determined and authorized by the Hubbard city council. (Ord. 165-92 § 4, 1992)

2.30.040 Rules and regulations.

The chief of police shall establish rules and regulations not included in this chapter, including, but not limited to, qualifications and restrictions for membership, commissions, operations, training, uniforms, discipline, records and duties. (Ord. 165-92 § 5, 1992)

2.30.050 Police reserve insured while on duty.

When called to duty and while on duty, performing the duties of police work, members of the police reserve shall be insured under the city’s workers’ compensation program. (Ord. 252-2001; Ord. 165-92 § 6, 1992)

2.30.060 Authority.

The chief of police or, in his absence, the acting chief of police shall have the sole authority in calling the reserves to duty. (Ord. 165-92 § 7, 1992)

2.30.070 Funding.

Any funds required to maintain and operate the police reserve shall be provided for in the city’s police department budget. (Ord. 165-92 § 8, 1992)
