15.08.010 Definitions.

As used in this chapter:

“Person” means and includes persons, firms, partnerships and corporations.

“Structure” means houses, stores and other buildings except minor sheds and outbuildings. (Ord. 10 § 1, 1965)

15.08.020 Uniform numbering system established.

There is established a uniform system of numbering of all structures situated within the corporate limits of the city on the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter, or which may thereafter be erected within said corporate limits. The numbering system adopted by this chapter is the grid system of building numbering as shown on the map on file in the office of the city recorder of the city. (Ord. 10 § 2, 1965)

15.08.030 Odd and even numbers.

A. North-South. For streets running in a northerly and southerly direction, even numbers shall be assigned to the east side of the street and odd numbers shall be assigned to the west side of the street.

B. East-West. For streets running in an easterly and westerly direction, even numbers shall be assigned to the south side of the street and odd numbers shall be assigned to the north side of the street. (Ord. 10 § 3, 1965)

15.08.040 Number assignment.

Building numbers shall be assigned by the recorder in accordance with the grid system as shown on said map on file in the City Hall of the city. (Ord. 10 § 4, 1965)

15.08.050 Placement and size of numbers.

All numbers shall be placed on the front of each structure, as near the main entrance as possible, in such manner as to be easily seen and read from the street upon which the structure is situated. All numbers shall be not less than two and one-half inches in height for the number proper, and shall be distinctly legible. For the purpose of securing uniformity of numbers, the building numbers shall be in the style and construction as prescribed by the council. (Ord. 10 § 5, 1965)

15.08.060 Charge for city installation.

A. In order to accomplish the purpose of this chapter, the city supervisor or his agents shall install the numbers of the structures as provided in this chapter, and shall make a charge therefor of $2.50, which sum shall be billed to the owner or occupant of such structure by adding the same to the next water service billing.

B. Such billing shall constitute legal notice to the resident and the owner of the property, and if not paid within 30 days after notice, the same shall become a lien against the real property upon which the structure is located and may be foreclosed in the manner as provided by law. 15.08.070 Violation – Penalty.

A. It is unlawful for the resident or owner to refuse to permit the installation of such numbers on the structure occupied or owned by him.

B. Any person who violates any provision of this chapter is subject, upon conviction, to a fine of not more than $100.00.

C. Each refusal shall constitute a separate offense and shall be punishable as set forth in this section. (Ord. 82-22 § 9; Ord. 10 § 7, 1965)
