2.05.010 Chairperson and vice-chairperson –Establishment.

Due to the enactment of Oregon laws which provide for a chairperson and a vice-chairperson of local governing bodies, the Marion County board of commissioners believes that it is appropriate to establish a procedure for establishing the position of chairperson and vice-chairperson for Marion County. [Ord. 955 § 1, 1993.]

2.05.020 Chairperson and vice-chairperson –Appointment.

On the first regularly scheduled board session in January 1993, the Marion County board of commissioners shall appoint one of their members as chairperson. If at least two members of the Marion County board of commissioners cannot agree on the appointment of a chairperson, the member of the board who has the longest term in service shall act as chairperson. If two or more persons have identical length of service as a county commissioner, then the selection of chairperson shall be by lot. The presiding circuit court judge shall be asked to determine the manner in which the chairperson is selected by lot. [Ord. 955 § 2, 1993.]

2.05.030 Chairperson absence.

Marion County shall have a first vice-chairperson who shall serve as chairperson in the absence of the chairperson of the Marion County board of commissioners. [Ord. 1264 § 2(7), 2008; Ord. 955 § 3, 1993.]

2.05.040 Vice-chairperson – Selection.

The first vice-chairperson shall be selected by the Marion County board of commissioners. The commissioner who is neither the chairperson nor the first vice-chairperson shall be the second vice-chairperson. [Ord. 1264 § 2(7), 2008; Ord. 955 § 4, 1993.]

2.05.050 Subdivision plat approval.

A. This section will allow the chairperson or vice-chairpersons of the Marion County board of commissioners to approve subdivision plats.

B. A subdivision plat may be approved by the signature of the chairperson or either vice-chairperson of the Marion County board of commissioners. [Ord. 956 §§ 1, 2, 1993.]
