5.12.010 Definitions.

"Person" as used in this chapter means an individual, firm, company, association, copartnership, or corporation, and the singular shall include the plural and the masculine shall include the feminine.

5.12.020 License--Purpose.

The licenses provided for by this chapter shall be issued for the purpose of both regulating the business described in this chapter, and of acquiring revenue for the city.

5.12.030 License--Required.

It is unlawful for any person to solicit subscribers to or operate a community television antenna system within the city, without securing a license from the city recorder and paying the fees provided in this chapter.

5.12.040 License--Not transferable.

No license granted or issued under any of the provisions of this chapter shall in any manner be assignable or transferable, nor shall it authorize any person other than the person named therein to do the business covered by this chapter.

5.12.050 License--Revocation.

Any license granted pursuant to the provisions of this chapter may be revoked by the city council after due cause having been first shown and a hearing had before the city council, and no person shall engage in the business described in this chapter after the license previously given to such person shall have been revoked by the city council.

5.12.060 License--Period of validity.

Any license issued under this chapter shall be for the calendar year commencing January 1st, and expiring December 31st. Any license issued after January 1st, of any year shall be valid for the remainder of that calendar year.

5.12.070 License--Fee.

Any person engaging in the business described in this chapter shall secure a license from the city recorder and pay the annual license fee of ten dollars basic fee, plus an additional one dollar for each employee of the business who will be performing his duties in the city.

5.12.080 License--Scope.

The license to be granted pursuant to this chapter shall give the licensee the privilege to solicit subscribers to a community television antenna system. This license does not either expressly nor by implication grant to any person the right to make any use of streets or easements owned by the city for the purpose of installing any appliance or article or conductor to be used in the operation of the business of providing a community television antenna system.

5.12.090 Violation--Penalty.

Violation of any provision of this chapter shall be punished upon conviction by a fine pursuant to Section 1.20.020 of this code.
