12.05.010 Map.

That from and after the passage of the ordinance codified in this chapter and its approval by the mayor, the names of the streets, avenues, places, roads, drives, and lanes shall be indicated and named on that certain map of the city of Pilot Rock, which is hereto attached, marked “Exhibit A,”1 referred to and made a part of this chapter, and entitled “Pilot Rock, Oregon,” and showing thereon in figures in the streets the index numbers of the house numbering system together with the names of the various streets, avenues, places, roads, drives, and lanes. 12.05.020 Conformance.

Hereafter it shall be the duty of the city council to see that all streets conform in name to the general plan indicated on the map before approving any plats, and it shall be the duty of the city council to see that on any and all plats submitted for approval only streets running in a general northerly and southerly direction be named or designated “avenues” and that only streets running in a general easterly and westerly direction be called “streets.” [Ord. 163 § 2, 1957].

12.05.030 Established.

There is hereby established a uniform system of numbering all houses, stores, establishments, and other buildings excepting minor sheds and out buildings, now situated or which may hereafter be erected within the city limits of the city of Pilot Rock, Oregon, which for convenience are hereinafter designated as structures. Pursuant to such system the numbers shall be placed near the main entrance to each structure, and in accordance to the map and plan on file in the office of the city recorder, which shall be known as the official numbering map of the city of Pilot Rock. 12.05.040 Requirement to obtain correct number.

It will be the duty of every person (which term shall be construed to include persons, firms, and corporations) owning, occupying or controlling any structure within the city of Pilot Rock to obtain from the recorder, or any agent designated by the common council, the correct number for such structure and to number the same in accordance with the provisions hereof, the same to be done within 30 days after the passing of the ordinance codified in this chapter, or within 30 days after the erection of any structure which may be constructed after the passing of the ordinance codified in this chapter. 12.05.050 Visibility standards.

All numbers shall be placed on the front of each structure at or near the main entrance as possible, in such manner as can be easily seen and read from the public way.

All numbers shall be not less than four inches in height for the number proper, and shall be distinctly legible. [Amended during 2011 codification; Ord. 163 § 5, 1957].

12.05.060 Violation – Penalty.

It shall be unlawful for any person to fail or refuse to obtain a number or to place the same on any structure owned, occupied, or controlled by said person, in the manner in this chapter provided; and it shall likewise be unlawful for any person to remove, alter, or deface any number or to substitute any other number therefor; and any persons violating any provisions of this section or of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof in the municipal court for said city, be punished by fine of not more than $50.00.
