A.    Independent Auditor

§2-201 Position of Independent Auditor Created.

Pursuant to §1005(7) of the Pennsylvania Borough Code, 53 P.S. 46005(7), the Council by a two-thirds vote of the entire number of councilmen elected, hereby creates the position of independent auditor for the Borough who shall be a certified public accountant, registered in Pennsylvania, a firm of certified public accountants so registered or a competent public accountant or a competent. firm of public accountants.

§2-202 Annual Appointment of Independent Auditor.

The appointment of the independent auditor shall be made annually by Council, by resolution before the close of each fiscal year, so that the independent auditor for the purpose of making an independent examination of the accounting records of the Borough for that fiscal year and to perform such other duties as directed by Council or mandated by law.

§2-203 Abolition of Office of Elected Auditor.

The office of elected Borough auditor is abolished with the creation of the position of independent auditor; provided, however, that the Borough auditors in office at the time of enactment of this Article shall continue to hold their office during the term for which elected and the Borough auditors shall not audit, settle or adjust the accounts audited by the independent auditor but shall perform the other duties of their office.
