2.70.010 Created – Membership.

There is hereby created an advisory board to the city council which shall be known as the Eagle Mountain City economic development board (referred to herein as the board). The board shall be comprised of five individual residents of Eagle Mountain City appointed in accordance with Chapter 2.27 EMMC. [Ord. O-05-2021 § 2 (Exh. A); Ord. 00-03 § 1. Formerly 2.20.010].

2.70.020 Terms.

Members of the board shall hold office for a period of three years or until a successor for a member whose term has expired is appointed by the city council. Initial terms for members of the board shall be staggered to provide that all terms of office do not expire at the same date. To establish staggered terms of office for the initial board, one member shall be appointed for a term of one year, two members of the board shall be appointed for terms of two years and two members shall be appointed for terms of three years. 2.70.030 Records.

The board shall not be required to conduct its meetings in accordance with the Utah Open and Public Meetings Act. The written documents prepared by the board in its official capacity shall be public documents in their final form. [Ord. O-05-2021 § 2 (Exh. A); Ord. 00-03 § 3. Formerly 2.20.030].

2.70.040 Meetings – Compensation – Purpose.

The board shall meet as often as necessary and shall serve without compensation. The board shall investigate methods of economic development in the city and propose to the city council for official confirmation and authorization such actions as may be lawful and deemed appropriate by the board to encourage economic development in the city. 2.70.050 Recommendations to city council.

All recommendations and proposals from the board shall be to the city council in writing and shall be considered by the city council in open public meetings. The city council may invite the members of the board to meet with the city council at regularly scheduled meetings or special meetings from time to time in compliance with the provisions of the Utah Open Meetings Act. 2.70.060 Chairperson.

After the initial appointment of a chairperson, the board shall annually elect one of its members as chair of the board and the chair of the board shall be the contact agent with the board to the city council. [Ord. O-05-2021 § 2 (Exh. A); Ord. 00-03 § 6. Formerly 2.20.060].

2.70.070 Removal of member – Vacancies.

A. Any board member may be removed by the city council for misconduct or neglect of duty.
