10.05.010 Interior subdivision streets.

The speed limit on interior subdivision streets shall be 15 miles per hour or 25 miles per hour, as determined by the city engineer based on a consideration of the design speed of the road and any site-specific factors. [Ord. 98-15 § 1].

10.05.020 Local collector streets.

The speed limit on local collector streets shall be 35 miles per hour, unless otherwise determined by resolution of the city council to compensate for site-specific factors. [Ord. 98-15 § 2].

10.05.030 Major collector streets.

The speed limit on major collector streets shall be 45 miles per hour, unless otherwise determined by resolution of the city council to compensate for site-specific factors. [Ord. 98-15 § 3].

10.05.040 Arterial roads.

The speed limit for arterial roads shall be 55 miles per hour, except as reduced by specific resolution of the city council to compensate for curves, line-of-sight distances, intersections or other site-specific factors. [Ord. 98-15 § 4].

10.05.050 General speed limits.

The speed limit in Eagle Mountain will be 25 miles per hour on all paved streets not otherwise posted according to the above provisions. Improved gravel roads will have a speed limit of 35 miles per hour, unless conditions of weather, road condition or safety make a lower speed necessary in order to maintain proper control of a vehicle. [Ord. 98-15 § 5].

10.05.060 Posting.

The speed limits required by this chapter shall be posted by standard regulatory signs on each road as designated by the city council. [Ord. 98-15 § 6].

10.05.070 Driver’s responsibility.

Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to relieve any operator of a motor vehicle of the responsibility to operate the motor vehicle under the operator’s control at a speed that will ensure safe operation of the vehicle and a proper level of control given the specific conditions in effect when such a vehicle is in operation. 10.05.080 Violation – Penalty.

It shall be unlawful to operate any motor vehicle on a public street in excess of the posted speed limit. [Ord. 98-15 § 8].
