1-6D-1 GENERAL DUTIES:

A.    The city engineer, under the direction of the city council, shall determine the lines and grades of all streets, alleys and sidewalks within the limits of the city and file in the city recorder's office a profile of all grades so determined and established.

B.    The city engineer shall make duplicate plats of all land surveyed and subdivided by him within the city, noting all errors and discrepancies in original surveys or resurveys, and file said duplicate in the city recorder's office.

C.    The city engineer shall, upon the tender of his legal fees, determine the corners or boundary lines of any block, lot or part thereof within the city, when so requested by any person.

D.    The city engineer shall make such reports to the city council as may from time to time be required.

E.    The city engineer shall perform such other duties as are, or may hereafter be imposed upon him by ordinance, order or resolution of the city council. (1957 Code § 17-24)

1-6D-2 PROTECTION OF MONUMENTS:

It shall be unlawful for any person to displace, remove, injure, or in any way interfere with, or place obstructions upon, any survey stake or monument marked as such, in any public street, alley, avenue or sidewalk; and any person violating any provision of this section shall be guilty of an infraction and, upon conviction thereof, subject to penalty as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code. 1-6D-3 INTERFERENCE WITH ENGINEER PROHIBITED:

It shall be unlawful for any person to interrupt or molest the city engineer or any of his assistants, agents or employees while engaged in official duty, or to willfully cause or offer to said engineer or any of his assistants or employees any kind of corporal injury or hindrance. Any person violating any provision of this section shall be guilty of an infraction and, upon conviction thereof, subject to penalty as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code.
