STREET NAMES AND HOUSE NUMBERS

8-2-1 NAMING STREETS:
The city council, by resolution, shall name the streets within the city and place street markers at the intersections designating the names of the streets and their numbers. (1957 Code § 20-1)
8-2-2 NUMBERING HOUSES:
A. Numbering Plan: The city council shall lay out a plan for consecutive numbering of houses in relation to the streets on which the same are located within the city. The number given a particular house shall be used as the street address for such house.
B. Application For Number: Applications for new numbers for residences newly constructed, and for change of a house number, shall be made to the city council, and all house numbers used shall be first approved by the city council or its duly authorized representative. (1957 Code § 20-2)
