POLICY AGAINST DISCRIMINATION

The City Council finds and declares that practices of discrimination against any City resident, visitor or person is a matter of City concern with such discrimination threatening the rights and privileges of City inhabitants and menacing the proper functioning of City government. The right to be free from discrimination because of race, creed, color, national origin, gender, or the presence of any sensory, mental, or physical disability or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal by a disabled person is recognized and declared to be a civil right and protected under the police power of the City of Airway Heights.

The City recognizes the civil right of any person to:

A. Obtain and hold City employment without discrimination;

B. Enjoy the accommodations, advantages, facilities or privileges of any public place within the City limits;

C. Engage in real estate transactions without discrimination, including discrimination against families with children;

D. Engage in credit transactions without discrimination; and

E. Engage in commerce free from any discriminatory practice. (Ord. C-495, 2002)
